22/07/07 - HMRC Investigations Continue

Several of our estates have recently been the subject of an 'Employer Compliance Review' conducted by H M Revenue & Customs. A booklet labelled TIP 73 Field Sports has been published by the Revenue to guide their officers through, what is seen by them to be, a difficult Field Sports minefield... The review appears to be much more detailed than a simple pay review and it is our guess that this is linked to the recent VAT inspections that have been incurring throughout the UK. It would appear that HMRC's campaign to delve into the workings of shoots, as anticipated in by the press over a year ago, is very apparent and we strongly recommend that all estate's continue to maintain a high standard of book keeping and accounting.
