07/03/08 - TDF - Lower water levels but good results.
It has been sunny this week and the water level has dropped slightly but it is still crystal clear. The beginning of the week was tough at first but with little wind, it soon sprung into action.
99 fish were caught at Villa Maria this week to the 6 rods with 34 over the 15lbs mark of which 10 were over 20lbs. The biggest caught was a 24lber by Tim Atkinson (pictured left with another great catch). Given that the first 3 days featured rapidly changing water levels which put the fish down, this was a good result.
The water temperature has ranged from 48 to 62 degrees Fahrenheit. They have been using a mixture of intermediate lines, light sink tips and floating lines. The most productive flies of the week have been EMBs, Prince Nymphs, B*tch Creeks, Woolly Bs and leeches, ranging from green to black in small sizes.
The forecast is for clouds and the likelihood of rain during this week. Therefore we advise you to take a range of lines to cope with any situation as conditions can change very rapidly.
There are no spaces left for this season but if you are interested in experiencing this fabulous fishing in 2009 please call us as soon as possible as the repeat rate of clients is very high and there will only be limited spaces available.
