Fishing in Mozambique

Mozambique

Mozambique offers big game fishing on a world class level and is ranked as the best black marlin destination in the Indian Ocean.

The best time for marlin fishing is from September to the end of January. Sailfish fishing is from April to September. Smaller game fish such as king & queen mackerel, bonito, and trevally are available all year round.

As well as game fishing, salt water fly fishing has also taken off in Mozambique, as conditions are ideal. Salt water fly fishing is popular both on the mainland and from the island beaches, particularly off sandbars produced by the high tidal range. Fly fishers will find the sought-after bonefish in the area and the islands in the Bazaruto Archipelago have a growing reputation for the world's largest bonefish.
