Ireland’s rivers have been fished by salmon enthusiasts for almost as long as those in Scotland and are considered by some to be the home of salmon fishing itself.
Salmon fishing a short hop away offering true hidden Ireland and guided fishing on an exclusive basis.
With a season that stretches from New Year's Day through until the middle of October, it is possible to catch a salmon here long after most other rivers are closed. The season really starts in earnest with the spring runs in May, followed by grilse entering the rivers until the beginning of September and a good autumn run to close the season.
World famous limestone loughs and rivers bordered by green water meadows and ancient forests traverse this hauntingly beautiful countryside. The joy of Ireland is that, regardless of conditions, there is always somewhere to fish, from the spate rivers of Kerry to the Shannon and a plethora of others besides. In the shadows of the west coast mountains the loughs of Corrib, Mask and Caragh are known for prolific hatches of mayfly and the voracious brown trout that gorge on them. We also offer exclusive fishing at Ballyhooly Castle on the Blackwater, a private beat for up to six rods.
In the past access to many of Ireland's best rivers has been extremely difficult to secure with only a handful of hotels offering good fishing and the existence of others a closely guarded local secret.
Over the past few years we have been working with one of Ireland's very best guides and instructors, Russell Whiteman, who is renowned for his knowledge of hidden Ireland and we can offer tailor made itineraries to match the exact requirements of our guests. We will organise everything from the fishing to accommodation, flights and hire cars and also arrange for you to be met on arrival by a professional guide who will stay with you throughout your trip.
There is an enormous amount to see and do in Ireland besides the wonderful fishing. The warmth of the Irish hospitality is legendary, the countryside has remained unspoilt through the centuries and there is a choice of accommodation to suit all requirements. Another huge advantage is the ease of access, being close enough to make a long weekend a practical proposition.
Ireland has it all: wonderful scenery, superb hospitality, famous trout fishing and some of the finest salmon fishing in Europe, it is no wonder that it is such a popular choice for so many.
