The Orkla is a big fish river that is reliable and very professionally run by Vegard Heggem.
The Aunan beat of the famous Orkla is run by the ex Liverpool football star, Vegard Heggem and is one of the best run in Norway.
The number of fish caught cannot be compared to Russia but catching one or two fish a day can be expected and 30lbs plus fish have been caught every year since the lodge opened in 2002.
With Vegard running the fishing and the lodge, rods can be assured of a very professional service from start to finish and with the nets being removed from the Trondheim fjord, the future looks bright for this historic area of Norway.
The Aunan water has a great variation of fly water from rapids to glides. It has twelve beats, nine of which are double banked and three single banked.
The wading varies but is generally good in most places. Only eight rods will fish the water ensuring plenty of fishing every day with an excellent home pool that can be fished 24 hours a day.
The Orkla is regulated by a hydro power station which means there is always water even in very dry years.
The accommodation is based in four very comfortable lodges with single rooms for all of the rods.
The main building has comfortable areas for relaxation after a day on the river. The food is delicious and as a party, dinner can be taken out by the river.
