If Salmon are kings amongst freshwater game fish, then brown trout were chieftans before crowns were invented.
A rising brown trout is the ultimate reward for a perfect light upstream cast with a dry fly. The trout slowly rises to your imitation before greedily gulping it down below. Brown trout are traditionally the most sought after species in chalk and other streams world wide.
The travelling trout fisherman has an exceptional choice where the streams and rivers of New Zealand, Argentina, Chile and the USA offer not only great fishing but also breathtaking scenery and superb accommodation.
Certainly there are differences with each destination; New Zealand's trout may be bigger, the Chilean rivers more remote, the Argentinean rivers more varied or the USA might have easier access. But the common theme is the beauty of the surroundings and the excellent fishing and lodging.
