News from Iceland: Laxa in Kjos opening day

It has been a strong start on the Laxa in Kjos. Ten salmon were caught on the first morning in a cold, Westerly wind...

Fish are spread throughout the system and were caught up to 66cm in length on the Stekkjarfljot (meaning Olympic) pool. A large salmon was sadly lost in Bugda on the Golfstraumur pool.

There are a lot of grilse running given how early on in the season it is. About 30 salmon were in Pokafoss yesterday - only five remaining this morning. That means the fish are really running through the system.

The total was 15 fish landed to the 4-6 rods. The group stopped fishing quite early to celebrate the summer beginning!

The largest fish this morning was 86 cm in length from beat 5. We will keep you updated with further catches.
