30/04/08 - Russian visas
Due to the unprecedented all English Champions League final, which will be held in Moscow on May 21st, it is likely that the Russian Embassy will be swamped with visa applications. They are working out plans to alleviate this but there is likely to be a backlog regardless of what they put in place. As a result, if you have not yet spoken to us about your Russian visa we strongly urge you to contact us as soon as possible. Please contact Lynsey Mair on 01488 689 701 for any further details.

12/04/08 - July on the Upper Shin, Sutherland
Due to a cancellation we still have availability remaining on the Upper Shin for the week commencing 27th July until 3rd August for the 2008 season. This is normally an excellent week with a 5 year average of 17 fish and the grilse should very much be in evidence at this time of year. Fishers also have the added advantage of guaranteed water heights with the compensation water from Loch Shin. The week comes with the very comfortable Lairg lodge which can accommodate up to 16 and 4 rods on the river. For full details look at the Scottish fishing page or contact James Dent on 01488 683 222.
12/04/08 - TDF - Sarah Chamberlain recounts a recent trip to the Rio Grande
I have heard so many people rave about the sea trout fishing on the Rio Grande and I have read many reports over the last couple of years but nothing can describe the excitement of landing my first ever fish there, weighing in at 14lbs. I flew to Buenos Aires and stayed at the Alvear Palace Hotel...
19/03/08 - Baronscourt Estate - A Scottish Style Estate in Northern Ireland
In September last season I was fortunate to have been invited to fish the River Mourne in Northern Ireland with renowned Irish fishing guide Russell Whiteman. We were the guests of the Duke of Abercorn on his private water which flows through the very picturesque Baronscourt Estate...
07/03/08 - TDF - Lower water levels but good results
It has been sunny this week and the water level has dropped slightly but it is still crystal clear. The beginning of the week was tough at first but with little wind, it soon sprung into action.
99 fish were caught at Villa Maria this week to the 6 rods with 34 over the 15lbs mark of which 10 were over 20lbs. The biggest caught was a 24lber by Tim Atkinson (pictured left with another great catch). Given that the first 3 days featured rapidly changing water levels which put the fish down, this was a good result...
21/02/08 - Rain with exciting results - a 27lber!
With more rain in the hills the river has risen between four and five inches while still remaining crystal clear. This rain has seen the fish migrating up the river and has resulted with 75 fish over the 15lbs mark of which the biggest were 24lbs, 26lbs and a whopping 27lbs...
18/02/08 - Tarpon, tarpon and more tarpon - Charlie White reports on a recent trip to the Isle of Youth in Cuba
Louise Mackenny and I have just returned from a week of fishing the Cayo Canarreos archipelago, just off the Isle of Youth in Cuba and were very impressed with what we found...
06/02/08 - TDF - A fantastic week on the Rio Grande with many fish over 20lbs
Although the fishing season in Tierra del Fuego opens in November, it is not until January when it really starts to take off and just a few weeks into the peak season we have already seen some superb fish...
23/01/08 - TDF - Strong winds and cold spells but a cracking start with a 23lber
The season in Rio Grande has got underway and already we have been reminded as to why we look forward to it so much. It has been windy which is to be expected in Tierra del Fuego and cold weather has heralded the start of the season but it is warming up to around 53 degrees F. This past week has seen the river drop and it is at present very clear with plenty of fish in the pools...
09/01/08 - The season in Tierra del Fuego is just beginning but big fish are being caught already
After a very wet December the Rio Grande needed a chance to fine down, which it has now done, with the result being very clear water at an excellent height. The level has been dropping this week, with water temperatures ranging between 48F and 61F; however, the weekly fluctuations are so great at present, that this is almost irrelevant...
08/01/08 - Changes in bag-net-fishing in Norway from the 2008 season
We are delighted to be able to announce that there are going to be major changes in bag-net-fishing in Norway from the 2008 season. Fisheries on the so-called mixed stocks along the Norwegian coast will be stopped which will allow 25,000 to 30,000 more salmon to reach their spawning rivers...
23/11/07 - Charlie White reports on a recent trip to Los Roques
I recently visited Los Roques, a location I have always been impressed by, however this time I was here to fish with our new partners, Sightcast. From being met by Tony, their transfer man in Caracas who speaks fluent English, to the first time I set eyes on the pangas and met the Sightcast guides, it was clear that I was in the right hands...
03/08/07 - Client report from Spey Lodge
As our Air Canada jet took off from Vancouver, the logging tugs were clearly visible below en route to the saw mills. We were going to Terrace, to fish for king salmon on the Skeena system, and expectations were running high. The jet touched down on time, and Wally, the proprietor of Spey Lodge, met us as arranged. Clockwork...
03/08/07 - A leviathan landed on the Lakselv
Congratulations to Dick Tapp (on right of picture) who landed this enormous fish in Northern Norway on the Lakselv River after a 30 minute dash downstream. Fishing a blue and black conehead with only 22lbs nylon this 44lbs fish was the highlight of a great day on the Lakselv....
25/07/07 - The Varzuga Season Review
5,715 fish to 166 rods in five weeks - an average of 35 salmon per rod per week. Please follow this link to see the full Varzuga Review in a pdf document. The Varzuga Season Review
25/07/07 - The East and West Ranga Rivers spring into action
We have just returned from a three day trip to Iceland based at the East Ranga Lodge and can confirm that after a later than normal start both the East and West Ranga are really picking up and good numbers of fish have been caught over the past week. The weekend produced 130 salmon on the West with numbers not far behind that for the East....
23/07/07 - Game Fair cancelled
The CLA Game Fair has made the difficult decision to cancel their show which was due to open at Harewood House, nr Leeds on Friday 27th July. Adverse, and worse than predicted weather which has hit Harewood Estate over the last 48 hours, has now defeated all the efforts the organisers have made in order to open the show this coming Friday.

20/06/07 - Charlie White reports on the penultimate week of the Varzuga season
We are into the final week of the season now but the excellent fishing continues. Rather frighteningly we are now in our final week of the season and as I mentioned last week it will be a great shame to leave the river on Friday but at least we should finish the season with a bang...

12/06/07 - Charlie White reports on a great week in Russia
With all camps firing the season continues as we would hope. It seems amazing that we should already be into our penultimate week and with the late break this is a great shame as the river is fishing superbly at present and it will be very difficult to leave it on Friday week knowing it has so much more to offer. Last week continued in much the same vein as the previous weeks with the important proviso being that the main run of fish has now hit Pana and the Kitza is now finally firing as we would expect.

04/06/2007 - Charlie White's second report from Varzuga
We are now into our third week of the season and with all of the ice and snow gone the Varzuga looks in perfect condition. The water temperature is around 10 degrees and we have already started to see clients take fish on a floating line. There are still pools where a sink tip will work well but it should not be long before we are fishing full floaters.
22/05/2007 - Charlie White reports on the start of the season in Varzuga
The season has started and in great style... After one of the coldest springs on record, in sharp contrast to the weather over here, the season is finally underway and it is great to be able to report large numbers of fish already caught. With the river very high and with ice still on the banks being melted by warmer weather, the fish are not able to run the main river and so sinking lines with flies on the dangle have been the most effective way of taking fish.
20/04/2007 - Tim Weston reports from India on the magical Mahseer
After two days of travelling across the stunning Indian countryside we finally had our first glimpse of the River Saryu. The river was very different from what I was expecting in that I could have been standing on the banks of any small salmon river in the northern hemisphere. The river was gin clear meandering around bends before coming to fast rapids followed by classic looking pools. That combined with the looming Himalayan Mountains as a back drop made this a real visual feast, I could not wait to start fishing.
01/04/2007 - Allan Shephard of Sportfish reports on Los Roques
Looking out the window I know we are close. We've been in the air for 35 mins out of Caracas and I can see slim bands of coral reef and lagoon stretching across the azure blue vista ahead. We pay our dues to enter Los Roques National Park and make our way to the Malibu Pasada. Inside, there is an instant change, this is an uber- cool refuge for the weary traveller, a world away from the hustle and bustle of Caracas. A calm oasis of sea breezes, bleached coral, shells, local art and chill-out furniture.
21/03/2007 - The water level has risen with excellent results
The season continues to produce excellent fishing throughout the Estancia Maria Behety's beats, with many landed fish over the 15lb mark and the biggest being a 23lb male this week.
28/02/2007 - Low water but sensational fishing
This year has so far been a low water year on the Rio Grande but it has proven to be one of the best seasons we have seen. With the fish concentrating in the lower parts of the river there has been some excellent fishing throughout the Estancia Maria Behtey's beats.
13/02/2007 - The rain finally arrives in Tierra Del Fuego
The start of the season has seen low water which has led to some excellent fishing but we had hoped for some rain just to freshen things up and this past week it came bringing the water up by about 3 feet. Such is the nature of the river that unless more rain comes it will drop back down but the rain will have moved the fish around the pools rather more which should simply improve the already excellent fishing.
30/01/2007 - The Pinnacle of Sea Trout Fishing
Although the fishing season in Tierra Del Fuego opens in November, it is only January when it really starts to take off and with just a few weeks of the peak season gone we have already seen some superb fish.
16/01/2007 - The Tierra Del Fuego season starts with a cracking 24lb fish
The start of the season is always an exciting time and we are confident that we can expect an excellent couple of months ahead. Fish caught during the week averaged around 13lbs with most fishermen landing three to four fish each per day but as ever, many more were lost. The largest caught this week was a superb 24lb fish.
25/09/2006 - The Varzuga Review 2006
2006 will go down in our record books as one of our best ever seasons on the Varzuga. The Varzuga, as with any salmon river, can be influenced by weather conditions and this season the weather was extremely kind to us.
28/06/2006 - The Varzuga season ends on a high
In a wonderful final week the Varzuga has demonstrated yet again that even in tough conditions it can produce some astonishing fishing. The Kitsa yields 340 salmon to 4 rods even while suffering unstable weather and soaring temperatures. Pana remains a highly sought after camp and barely checks here stride to provide 380 for its final week. In his final report Tom McNeile closes the season on a high note and looks forward to next year.
22/06/2006 - The end of the season produces some fantastic fishing
With Lower Camp closed the upper camps continue to provide Salmon. The Belgian team takes 505 fish for 11 rods on Middle, while Pana provides a staggering 800 for 8 rods. Although the summer is there, we see how the Varzuga continues to offer some wonderful fishing and it is here that Tom McNeile gives us his penultimate report and reflects on a superb season.
13/06/2006 - Fishing still excellent as the season draws to a close
As Tom McNeile and the Varzuga enter the penultimate week of the season the fishing still remains excellent. Not only are the fish still there but many a rod has remarked on their increasing weight. Things seem as if they couldn't be better and yet Pana still manages to up the ante and produces a truly staggering 416 salmon for 8 rods.
06/06/2006 - The Varzuga's season continues in fine style
When most rivers would have succumbed to the heavy weather and high wind that descended on the Varzuga this week, things only seem to get better. Tom McNeile tells us how in the face of adversity the Kitsa manages to produce its own record of 100 salmon in a day, while the Middle strides forward with a massive 871 fish to 12 rods. One rod, in the aptly named party pool manages to take 3 large 15lb monsters to show that the big fish are definitely there.
