Dove Shooting

WHERE TO SHOOT DOVE

Africa, Morocco and Argentina.

Dove

For 'high-volume' dove shooting, Argentina is internationally renowned as the mecca for keen sportsmen. Morocco is more suited for couples who are looking for a holiday combined with some dove shooting.

The Cordoba Province of Argentina boasts a massive population of Eared Doves (Zenaida Auriculata - at the last count estimated to be some 54 million) The climate and food supply is such that the population breeds, unchecked, all the year round. Consequently, the farmers and growers in the region are plagued by the biblical proportions of birds and shooting parties are most welcome. No closed season means that the shooting is year-round.

The quarry in the Taroudant area of Morocco is the Turtle Dove (Streptopelia Turtur) which migrates to the semi-desert in large numbers in the summer. They are a very sporting quarry and are shot 'flighted' as they pass swiftly between roosting, feeding and watering areas. The doves are lured to the area by the farming practices, which are broken by good roosting cover in the orange and olive groves.
