Many species of pigeon are found throughout the world and in most countries they are regarded as a pest.
Pigeons have an ability to have many clutches of eggs in a year which, together with their varied appetite, makes them great survivors but in some countries they are seen as extremely sporting birds.
Our primary concern is with the wood pigeon in the UK and reasonable bags of these birds can be made, but much skill and field craft together with reconnaissance and concealment is needed if one is to be successful.
In Latin America, particularly Argentina, the spotted pigeon (a close relative to the Wood Pigeon) can be shot either flighted or decoyed. The rock pigeon in South Africa can be decoyed reliably, especially with the aid of the 'Pigeon Magnet'.
All year round.
