Dark marbled beauty
Artic Char have been described by an anonymous fly fisherman as "As pretty as any wild brown trout and as ferocious as any fresh salmon".
There are a number of factors that are contributing to the arctic char's increasing popularity as a sport fish. In addition to its outstanding fighting ability, it is a colourful, elusive species that presents itself as a challenging catch to many anglers.
Once hooked, the fight that the Arctic Char puts up easily rivals that of the Atlantic salmon pound for pound. Arctic char are known for their long runs and frantic jumps, as well as their spinning and twisting when fought and can skilfully throw a fly with characteristic, powerful shakes of its head.
The raw beauty of the destinations where Arctic Char can be caught combined with their amazing fighting prowess makes this a very popular species.
