Sailfish live in all the oceans of the world. The sailfish is a rapidly growing species, reaching 1.2 to 1.5 m in a single year.
A highly popular target for sport fishermen, Pacific sailfish are a prized trophy species. Their popularity is a result of the challenge of catching one using light tackle, their penchant for dramatic leaps out of the water and their stunning beauty.
They can swim at speeds of up to 68 mph making them the fastest fish in the ocean. When hooked they are spectacular jumpers with a very fast surface run. They don't grow to more than 10 feet and weigh up to 200lbs.
Traditionally caught using conventional big game tackle these fish are more and more being targeted with fly rods and the lodges in our portfolio are at the cutting edge of developing these extremely exciting form of fishing.
