After months of anticipation, our advance team of staff are now on the ground in Varzuga and they have found a river that broke a week ago. Conditions look perfect for our first guests of the season who will arrive on Saturday...

The Atlantic Salmon Trust recently launched the Salmon Club at an evening drinks party at the Westminster Boating Base in London. The Salmon Club is predominantly aimed at the under 45s. The main goal is to support the Atlantic Salmon Trust by creating an extensive community with a strong online presence that will fuel a passion and enthusiasm for the protection of wild Atlantic salmon.

It is extraordinary how times flies and yes, I know that is a cliché.  I thought I had been in Cuba very recently and it was only when I checked all of the details did I realise that I actually had not been there for five years. 

Through the sincere generosity of His Grace, The Duke of Buccleuch, we are delighted to help support this amazing and unique package of staying at Drumlanrig Castle for two nights and shooting on the magnificent Drumlanrig Estate. All funds raised will go straight to the Foundation to help fight the battle against Motor Neurone Disease.

Yet another great week has drawn to a close on the Rio Grande at La Villa de Maria Behety. 97 fish were landed with 33 over 15 pounds to the 6 rods. In a switch from the norm there was little wind and nice crisp cold mornings have started.

We don’t think we could say that the 2018-19 season was a classic! It’s been well documented that the detrimental effects that the ‘Beast from the East’ and the dry summer had on grouse numbers although early concerns about cover crops not growing due to the dry weather, were unfounded.

Whilst the early pheasant days were a success, many shoots struggled to hold onto their birds due to the mild and bright weather and an abundance of wild food...

The fishing continues to be good on the Rio Grande into the first week of March. La Villa de Maria Behety saw 101 fish landed, 34 fish over 15 pounds, 8 over 20. At Estancia Mariah Behety lodge landed 155 fish with 36 over 15 pounds and 7 over 20 pounds.

The fishing was very good this week on the Rio Grande, with a great quality of fish. La Villa de Maria Behety saw 120 fish landed, 42 fish over 15 pounds, 10 over 20, Average weight  12  pounds, the best average for the season so far.

Another great week on the Rio Grande has ended. Fishing was jolly good with an amazing number of bigger fish landed.  At Maria Behety Lodge a mixed team from the United States, United kingdom and Denmark caught 165 fish with 54 over 15 pounds and a staggering 9 over 20 pounds. At La Villa de Maria Behety the 6 rods caught 82 fish with 25 over 15 pounds and 4 over 20 pounds. The upper river is getting better but most of the fish are in the middle river.
