Week seven at Estancia Maria Behety has just come to an end and the fishing was very good. This was especially true in the first three days of the week. On Tuesday heavy rain in the upper river as well as some tributaries caused a steep rise in the level of the river by Wednesday. After this the river coloured up and water temperature plummeted. Our team landed 147 fish with 25 fish over 15 lbs and 3 fish over 20 lbs.
David B was our top rod with 22 fish to the net. Ian E landed the biggest fish of the week and indeed of the season at 26 lbs

This week has been the best so far. Full floating and intermediate lines with small flies worked best with Salmon flies as small as size 10 doing the business. Also green machine and EMB worked very well. The river still holds a great level of water. The team landed 108 fish with 20 fish over 15 lbs, 2 fish over 20 lbs and an average weight of 9 lbs.

Ten very eager anglers descended onto the shores of Alphonse Island this week. The weather was good however a strong north easterly wind did make things challenging. The neap tides allowed anglers to have some amazing shots at the ‘Big Five’. The fishing was boundless for anglers willing to put in the effort and make shots at fish.

Fishing picked up this week, floating lines and small flies worked well, until the river rose. Once the water levels came up sinking lines and big flies were the go to.
Due to the regular weekly rain the river is in great condition and at a wonderful height. 90 fish were landed, 12 fish over 15 lbs, 1 fish over 20 lbs, Average weight 8,5 lbs. David S was top rod last week with 21 fish landed. Karen R got the biggest fish at 23 lbs.

I had a truly remarkable week, and all told it could not have been more perfect. The lodge was fantastic, the food delicious and in perfect proportions and the wine selection and variety a voyage of discovery and education in the best of Mendoza. Heather and her team were unbelievably welcoming and hospitable and looked after ones every need. That is before we get to the fishing...
