Isobel S with one of 9 fish she and her husband Ian, landed on just one session on the Rio Grande.  A great session for sure but made slightly more epic when you are told that they were sharing a rod and that the combined weight of those 9 sea trout was 122lbs.  Just an astonishing fishery.

What do you want from a fishing destination? 

We are all different but if you want reliability, big fish, excellent guides, supremely comfortable lodges, a week of varied fishing techniques and fabulous food and drink then you really shouldn’t look any further than the Maria Behety fishing on the Rio Grande in Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina.

It was a great fishing week. Lots of fresh fish coming in from the ocean. We had excellent sessions fishing floating lines and sunray shadow or emb.

Dave P was our top rod (as usual) with 23 fish in the net. Clel N landed 22 fish.

A technically challenging week to start the season but despite the conditons a solid start.

Winds from the east, low air temperatures, and a rise of the river on Friday with dirty water, made the fishing tough this week at La Villa. The team landed 30 fish for the week with 2 fish over 15 pounds. Average weight 9 pounds...

The 2017 season will be remembered for an extremely high average weight of fish  - it hovered around 13lbs for the first six weeks of the season which is an extraordinary statistic.  

After months of anticipation, fly tying, weather checks and monitoring of fishing reports, it was eventually time to head to Heathrow for the flight to Buenos Aires...

After some heavy rain, the river was very high and muddy for most of the week so catches were disappointing. Charlie White was hosting a trip to Estancia Maria Behety (his trip report will follow shortly) and the team made the most of the trip despite the conditions... 

It was another challenging week on The Rio Grande but the average weight of the catches was 12lbs at La Villa and the fish of the week at Estancia Maria Behety was a 22lbs buck...

The fishing was decent despite tricky weather conditions on The Rio Grande. At La Villa the six rods landed 82 fish, 30 of which were over 15lbs and 6 over 20lbs... 

The fishing was a little slower this week across the board but highlights included a 28lber for Paul Souza on the first morning at La Villa and several over the 20lbs mark at the larger lodge...
