La Villa Maria Behety
The heroic Alf B celebrated his 87th birthday out at La Villa Maria Behety last week. He spends two weeks of the season every year with his friends and has been fishing down there for over 20 years and has become something of a regular feature on the banks of the Rio Grande.
The fishing itself really improved this week; rain caused the river levels to rise on Thursday by 15cm but it dropped quickly on Friday. Air temperatures were cooler than normal, ranging from -2°C to 16°C. Water temperatures ranged from 7°C to 12°C.
The average weight of sea trout landed for the week was 8.4lbs. 17 fish were over 15lbs and two were over 20lbs, impressive statisticss by anyone’s standards. Colin G caught the largest – a fresh 23lber – while Roger Y was the top rod for the week again, landing 23 fish overall – the best record for the season.
The group at La Villa have another week down there so I will update you on this week’s catches when they come in.
Estancia Maria Behety
Last week was an impressive week at the Estancia Maria Behety too, with an average weight of 9.4lbs of fish landed. 20 fish were caught over 15lbs, with Alex P catching a stunning 19lber.
