Lakselva had it’s best July on record and hopes were high for August. The weather conspired against us early in the month and although our guests recorded salmon of up to 26lbs, the really big fish eluded them. There were some dramas along the way, however, with two fish of over 40lbs lost at the last minute.
Mid August saw the conditions improve and despite a slightly low river the run of large fish continued. Last week our guests landed 51 salmon with the largest six coming in at a remarkable 47lbs, 40lbs, 40lbs, 36lbs, 35lbs and 32lbs.
Notable events were Clay B, having two of over 40lbs for the week, and Wes B and Colin G who, fishing together, had a 47lber and a 35lber from the same pool in the space of two hours!
