The water conditions are reported to be fantastic, with super clear visibility from 5 to 7 feet.
Water temperature: Between 43°F and 64°F
Water level on the Rio Grande has been dropping a little every day.
Weather Conditions:
There have been a few very windy days. It blew from 60 – 65 mph. Then the wind dropped to normal for Tierra del Fuego, 20 to 30 mph.
At the beginning of the week a cold front come in and it was very cold (30°F). This was a very strange weather phenomenon. By Friday, temperatures went up to 73°F. There has been no rain.
Fishing Conditions:
The best flies were nymphs. EMB’s, red butt, Aurelia prince, TDF prince, prince nymph, small scuds (size 12, 14) are all working well.
For the last hour of fishing, big flies are the best. Leeches, intruders, tube flies, sunray shadow, Skagit minnow.
Fly lines: Skagit and Scandi heads. With mow tips and different lengths of T-14 and T-11. Floating and intermediate tips worked well.
Light sink-tips long leaders (10 to 12 feet) and for heavy sink-tips short leaders (5 to 8 feet).
Number of anglers for the week: 12 rods.
Total number of fish landed for the week: 83 fish
Weight of the biggest fish: 22 lbs
Number of fish landed over 15 lbs: 11 fish
Number of fish landed over 20 lbs: 1 fish
Notable catches: Greg Shouse landed a 22 lbs. Jeff Shouse landed a 19.5 lber.
