Two "Flat Slams" from Alphonse Island
By Louise Laycock
Continuing from last weeks’ great action, the first day of this week kicked off with 2 “Flats Slams”, 8 GTs, 2 Triggers and 112 Bonefish. Arthur W and Simon D both landed GTs, Triggers and Bonefish during the day to complete their “Flats Slams”, while Justin M got stuck into the GTs and ended up with a tally of 3 for the day. As the week progressed the GT catches continued with numerous fish in the 80–95cm range. Day 4 was a memorable one with Rafn V landing his first GT of 104cm (50lbs) and Justin M his first Indo Pacific Permit. By the end of the week there were 17 GTs, 8 Triggerfish, 396 Bonefish, 1 Permit, 2 Sailfish, 19 Bluefin Trevally and 2 Wahoo landed on fly.

St Francois Atoll was on top form over the past week. An event occurred that only happens once every few years. Massive schools of rabbitfish formed bait balls and moved into the lagoon which in turn made the GT’s go absolutely wild. The GT fishing was fantastic over the last week coupled with amazing bonefishing and even a few permit and triggerfish being caught in between. Not only was the flats fishing amazing but also the bluewater angling, with anglers landing some catches of a life time.
Ten years ago, work started on constructing the Delphi Club on a beautiful, deserted beach in south Abaco. Financed by Peter Mantle and a group of fishing friends from Ireland, Britain and the US, the venture quickly established itself as one of the finest fishing lodges in the world.
