Glen Lyon, South Africa
A beautiful sporting game reserve with a genuine chance to complete a Kalahari Macnab Challenge
The stunning privately owned 58,000-hectare, private game reserve in the Kalahari is the perfect destination to enjoy the very best the South Africa has to offer. This is a classic mixed sporting estate, offering world class sand grouse shooting, wildfowling, pigeon and dove shooting, fly fishing on the orange river and top-quality traditional plains game hunting. The estate specialises in the Kalahari Macnab challenge, with the aim to shoot a brace of sand grouse, catch a yellow fish on the fly and hunt a Gemsbok all in a day!
Parties are beautifully hosted on the stunning estate with 5-star service and food, with a real attention to detail. The estate is the private preserve of the owner and his guests; however we have exclusive permission to let 4 parties come in per year to attempt the challenge. Those not on the Macnab challenge will be kept busy with a mix of wing shooting, hunting and fishing, with flexibility for tailored itineraries.
Smaller parties of 4-8 guests stay in the charming Park homestead and larger groups from 6-16 guests staying in the main 9 bedroom Glen Lyon Lodge, which has indoor and outdoor dining areas, games room, swimming pool and tennis court and gym.
The estate has a landing strip and can accommodate private charters, offering easy access to connecting flights from Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town. Or the nearest local airport is in Kimberly.
