Druids Lodge, England
Just west of Stonehenge, on the edge of Salisbury Plain the Guinness family-owned Druids Estate encompasses some 3,500 acres. Druids Lodge is one of the most famous old shoots in southern England.
The terrain is ideally suited to partridge, with undulating chalk downland and grassy banks enabling a variety of exciting birds to be shown. There are two different beats and enough variety to shoot three days back to back without visiting the same drive twice.
The estate aims to give you a fun and relaxed day offering every kind of shot, for both the experienced and inexperienced gun, therefore it makes for a perfect shoot to entertain clients or inaugurate the young.
We also have a number of teams who return year after year with friends as they love the friendly atmosphere on the shoot which stems from the attitude of the head keeper, Stuart Langdown. Stuart’s team of beaters, pickers-up and loaders are second to none and many of them have been attending shoot days for well over 20 years.
There is a superb shooting lodge, which really complements the shoot, where guns meet for tea and coffee in the morning. An excellent elevenses is provided in the field and lunch is served back at the lodge, as is tea at the end of the day.
Druids Lodge does not have its own shoot host and as such, Roxtons provides this service in a low key fashion. Many teams prefer this as they can personalise their day as much as they like, rather than fitting in with the host’s preferred itinerary.
There are a handful of excellent hotels in the area ranging from the very exclusive private houses to the more relaxed country house hotels and pubs.
