Arden, North Yorkshire, England
A fantastic high bird shoot that came under our management in February 2018
The Arden Beat of the Hawnby Estate is a truly magical place to shoot. The deep and secluded valleys provide a constant stream of stunningly presented pheasants. The shoot is situated perfectly in its own exclusive part on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors, with just a short 15-minute drive from the charismatic town of Helmsley, a magnet for shoot parties.
Having recently taken on the management of Arden we pride ourselves on running a very classic, old-fashioned and exclusive pheasant shoot. Drives such as Springwood, Big Fairy, Little Fairy, Ruecroft and the Arden Bank offer stunning sport standing in open ground, so guns have plenty of time to see their quarry.
Guns are greeted with teas and coffee in the morning in the new Shoot Lodge, which is located in the heart of the estate next to Arden Hall. Lunch is normally served after the third drive, where you will continue to encounter the high standards of hospitality the team have to offer.
The overall atmosphere of the estate is second to none, which is evidently backed by the incredibly hard-working keepers on the ground who strive to meet the highest of standards possible. Arden was also one of the first shoots to sign up to the British Game Assurance Scheme (BGA) and has been recently audited by Aim to Sustain to make sure the shoot complies with the strict criteria of best practice that the BGA adheres to, and encourages all shoots to follow.
Arden is fast gaining a reputation as one of the best shoots in Yorkshire and, with a limited and exclusive number of days shot, availability can be scarce.
