Findhorn Valley Shoot, Inverness-shire, Scotland
The Findhorn Valley Sporting Club holds the sporting lease on the well-known Moy Estate in the northern Highlands.
The shoot enjoys the wonderful deep valleys of the Monadliath Mountains and the stunning scenery that is part and parcel of this area of Scotland. The majestic River Findhorn forms an exciting back drop to several of the drives and one is unlikely to see other souls un-associated with the shooting operation during the course of the day – such is the private nature of this estate.
The mix of early-released pheasants and partridges make for strong, challenging birds from the start of their respective seasons. The native heather and juniper provide excellent, dense cover, allowing the birds to be driven slowly and steadily over the line of guns. The ‘keepering team is second to none and both traditional and diligent is all that they do.
There are several places to stay in the locality from private castles to top-end Inverness hotels. Situated just 20 minutes south of Inverness (25 minutes from the Airport) by way of the A9, it is extremely accessible. This is undoubtedly an estate worth travelling to.
