Knock House, Benmore Estate, Isle of Mull, Scotland

Located on the beautiful Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides, Benmore Estate offers a unique Scottish experience where guests have access to wonderful highland sport alongside a full range of other activities on the estate and out to sea. Set in a beautiful location that combines a spectacular coastal setting with traditional highland vistas, Knock House is the ideal location for large parties sleeping up to 20 guests.

Having undergone extensive renovation by its current owners, the house offers elegant and very comfortable accommodation for up to 20 guests. Nestled at the foot of Ben Bheag at the head of Loch na Keal and overlooking the River Ba, this grand 18th Century property is the perfect base for your ultimate Scottish holiday.

Sport and activities

The estate offers some of the Island’s finest salmon and sea trout fishing on the River Ba, Loch Ba and the River Forsa. Additionally there are a number of hill lochs to explore for trout.

The River Ba runs for approximately 2 miles from Loch Ba to the sea, meandering past Knock House. The river sees salmon and sea trout ruuning each year from mid June and given the right water conditions can produce some exciting sport on the fly for grilse and summer salmon.

Loch Ba is the second largest loch on Mull and in recent years has shown good stocks of Salmon and Sea Trout. The loch can be fished by fly, dapping or trolling.

The River Forsa is over 7 miles long and has over 40 named pools. Although the first fish are seen in May the river fishes best from July. The Forsa is a classic spate river and as such is very water dependent.  There is some excellent fly water but spinning is also permitted.

The magic of Knock House is that there is always so much to do, see and experience. Beyond fishing, the stalking involves some of the most stunning landscapes Scotland has to offer and our experienced stalkers will guide you on the hill, offering expert advice.

Sea fishing can be just as thrilling and productive and includes mackerel and pollack fishing, shark fishing, and lobster potting on the estate’s sea fishing boat – Corra Bhein.

‘Benmore Lady’, the estate’s wonderful 46ft Targa motor cruiser can offer exciting day trips including visits to see the puffins on Lunga, Fingal’s Cave on Staffa, The Abbey on Iona, whale and dolphin watching and visiting the beautiful isolated beaches and islands around the west of Mull.

An all-weather tennis court is available at the lodge as well as bicycles and sailing dinghies. Guests can try their hand at clay pigeon shooting or set off on a paddle board across Loch Ba. The first class Knock House team includes housekeeping staff, qualified boatmen, stalkers, guides and ghillies.
