River Ewe

River Ewe, Scotland

The River Ewe is on the west coast of Scotland near the village of Poolewe. Rather like Icelandic rivers it is always gin clear as it comes out of Loch Maree which is approximately 12 miles long.

The river is about 2 miles long and it is a four-rod river. There are four beats and there are 13 pools on the river. The river is best suited to a double handed rod and there is a ghillie, who knows the river very well, for the four rods.

Accommodation

The Manse, as the lodge is called, overlooks the Ewe towards the bottom end of the river on the left bank. It has been tastefully updated in recent years. There is a drawing room with a fire and ample sofas. There is an open plan kitchen/dining room next door to the drawing room.

The Manse can accommodate eight guests. There are three downstairs bedrooms, two are single bedrooms, with a downstairs bathroom with bath and shower. There is also a separate loo downstairs. On the first floor there are two bedrooms with a shared shower room upstairs. One is a king size bedroom and the other is twins.
