Hosteria San Huberto, Argentina
The Malleo may be the brightest jewel in the crown of Patagonia’s trout fishing. The “right size” to fish and wade, this river offers fly fishermen sight fishing opportunities along 30 kilometres of wondefully varied pools and runs.
From the picture-book meadow section with the Lanin Volcano spire as a backdrop to the lower section, which offers pocket water, small boulders and willow-lined banks, the Malleo is a delight to fish.
The lodge guides know the Malleo well, and even less experienced anglers that can cast comfortable distances and take helpful direction from their guides will triumph here and be better anglers for it. There are rainbow and brown trout in the Malleo.
Hosteria San Huberto also offers float trips, fishing the crystal clear waters below the snow-capped Lanin volcano. There is also excellent fishing for rainbow trout on the Huaca Mamuil, a tributary of the Malleo.
Accommodation
The Hosteria San Huberto lies near Junin de los Andes, governing a 25,000 acre working estancia in Northern Patagonia. Here your hosts, Carmen and Ronnie Olsen ensure that this attractive lodge runs like clockwork.
The lodge has availability for a maximum of 16 guests in 10 comfortable single and double rooms. The maximum number of fisherman is 12.
Patagonian delights, as well as international cuisine specialities, are mainly based on fresh and organic goods most of them coming from the next door vegetable garden and are the production of the ranch.
