La Villa Lodge Fishing Report

Another week is over, in the group there were three repeaters and three new, but it looked like a group that knew each other from before, a perfect group was formed.

The fishing was very good, very good quality fish.

At the end of the week we had some rain and the river rose a little, will see if continue raising for next week.

We landed 87 fish, 30 over 15 pounds, 2 over 20 pounds.

Top rod of the week was Peter J with 26 fish on the net.

Jeffrey G got the  biggest fish with  23 pounds.

Water Conditions

Water colour and visibility: clear.

Water temperature: 8c   to 12c.

Water level: low water.

Weather Conditions

Wind speed ranges through the week: the wind blow hard only one day.

Air temperature ranges through the week : 6c. to 19c.

Weather observations (sun, rain, fog, etc.):some rains.

Fishing Conditions

Flies that are working the best: Different sizes of sunray shadows, small salmon  flies, nymph ( scuds,red tail, emb, prince, pheasant tail), green machine , for the last hour (intruder, leech, sunray ).

In low waters scandi with poly leaders drifting or striping according to the speed of the water.

In deeper pools , sinking lines with nymphs dead drifting.

Emb was the best fly of the week, always move it.

Fly lines (tips, heads, lengths, densities, etc) that are producing the best: Skagit heads with different lengths of T-20,17,14, 11, scandi with polyleaders .

We recommend bringing two rods, one to use with scandi and another with skagit lines, and also a single handed rod or switch rod  for the upper part of the river.

Length and strength of tippet and leaders: 7  to 12  feet. 15 to 20 pounds.

Middle and upper part of the river is the best,.

We started to see some darker fish.

Average weight: 9,5 pounds.

Notable catches: great 18 pounds fish with floating line on top.
