Another week just ended, February started better, the fishing was good.

A complete group of UK.

In the middle and lower part of the river the level is perfect, the upper part, above the mouth of the Menéndez river is something completely different, half of the river, enough for fish it with single handed rod or switch rod.

The river has many fish, sometimes they were not seen moving, but using heavy lines reaching the bottom we had many catches.

Floatation lines worked very well with ( sunray, salmon flies, green machine).

The best thing was to use heavy lines with very small nymphs( dead drift).

We landed 72 fish, 17 over 15 pounds, 2 over 20 pounds.

Top rod of the week was Rob O with 17 fish on the net.

Rob O got the biggest fish with  22 pounds.

Water Conditions

Water colour and visibility: clear.

Water temperature: 8c   to 14c.

Water level: the river has a great level.

Weather Conditions

Wind speed ranges through the week: we didn’t have much wind, it only blew hard on Friday.

Air temperature ranges through the week : 8c. to 18c.

Weather observations (sun, rain, fog, etc.):several days with winds blowing from southwest.

Fishing Conditions

Flies that are working the best: Different sizes of sunray shadows, small salmon  flies, nymph ( scuds,red tail, emb, prince, pheasant tail), green machine , for the last hour (intruder, leech, sunray ).

Floating scandi with intermediate o slow sinking polyleaders, using sunray, salmon flies, emb, green machine.

Sinking lines with  nymph was the best    (Red but, pheasant tail, rubber legs).

Fly lines (tips, heads, lengths, densities, etc) that are producing the best: Skagit heads with different lengths of T-20,17,14, 11, scandi with polyleaders .

We recommend bringing two rods, one to use with scandi and another with skagit lines, and also a single handed rod or switch rod  for the upper part of the river.

Length and strength of tippet and leaders: 7  to 12  feet. 15 to 20 pounds.

Middle part of the river is the best, we started to see more fish in the upper part.

We started to see some darker fish.
