Week 4 at La Villa Maria Behety turned out to be an excellent week. 100 fish were landed to the six rods with 25 fish over 15lbs and three over 20lbs. Top rod of the week was Paul Richardson with 19 fish to the net, the biggest being 18lbs.
Not a lot of sea trout were landed on floating and intermediate lines this week. Instead most of the fish were caught with sinking lines, using nymphs tied on circle hooks and by dead drifting. Very long leaders worked well.
The lower and middle part of the river is full of fish. Above the Menéndez river, the upper part of the river is really low and there are not many fish above the Menéndez.
Flies that are working the best are different sizes of Sunray Shadows, small salmon flies, nymphs (Red Tail, EMB, Prince, Pheasant Tail) and Green Machines. For the last hour the best flies seem to be Intruders, Leeches and Sunray Shadows.
The most effective fly lines are Skagit heads with different lengths of T-17,14, 11 and Scandi lines with polyleaders with the clear intermediate being the best.
