This is testament to the tremendous draw of The Rio Grande…three returning rods were joined by three people who had not been before, but everyone had a successful week on the river.
The weather fluctuated again; the first three days were beautiful but there were cool winds by the end of the week. Air temperatures ranged from 2°C to 19°C and water temperatures ranged from 5°C- the lowest of the season so far – to 14°C.
The fishing varied with the conditions and the average weight was lower than last week at 8.5lbs. That said, the group had 19 fish over 15lbs of which four were over the 20lbs mark.
Rodney H was the top rod for the week with 22 fish landed, and Jean H was very close behind him with 21. David L is relatively new to fishing and landed an impressive 17 fish, our congratulations go to you all.
As the water remained clear throughout the week, nymphs worked well during the day and big streamers and tubes were best at twilight.
At the Estancia Maria Behety, the average weight of fish landed was 8.3lbs. 15 of those landed were over the 15lbs mark and four of those were over the 20lbs mark. The river is in excellent condition with low and clear water.
There is still some last minute availability left for this season. If you would like further information, please contact Charlie White or Hannah Treliving on 01488 689 701.
