It has been an early spring in the UK although particularly late in the far north of Europe and we have benefited from an unusually dry April and May. This has led to good conditions for drilling game crops and with the recent rains they are establishing themselves well.
The game farms report favourable rearing conditions and the recent legislation requiring game bird rearers to use far less antibiotics seems to be working well too. The first pheasant poults will go to wood in mid-June and the period of long dedicated hours by the keepers commences. We need to pray that the weather is kind for young grouse particularly during Ascot week when they are at their most vulnerable from heavy thundery downpoursts.
We do have some excellent openings during the season for both roving guns and full teams. Please see the latest availability here or contact one of our consultants with your exact requirements.
