Avalon has developed a programme combining the best of both the Isle of Youth and the Cayo Largo fisheries from a single live aboard yacht. The reason for this combination is to provide a variety of fishing opportunities to satisfy the most discerning of interests.
Around the Cayo Largo area you can target plentiful populations of bonefish and permit on endless white sand and turtle grass flats. To the west, among the various keys of the Isle of Youth, you will find an extensive mangrove and reef system full of tarpon and snook. With the ability to move in between these areas, the fishing is always fresh and exciting.
Fish during the day and relax while watching an incredible sunset in style and comfort in one of the most beautiful pristine natural environments in the world. This is a unique opportunity to fish in a completely exclusive marine park, free of commercial fishermen, nets or any skiffs or yachts from other companies.
Guests can expect the following species when fishing Canarreos: permit, bonefish, tarpon, jack crevalle, barracuda, mutton snapper and snook as well as many other possible species.
The bounty of nature found at Canarreos is a well-kept secret. It has a pristine coral reef flanked by mangrove keys and islands with an unparalleled nursery habitat for a whole host of fish species. This is complemented by neighbouring keys inhabited by numerous species of flora and fauna, among them iguanas, pelicans and turtles.
The Canarreos season runs from October through to July and features consistent fishing for all target species and opportunities for Grand Slams and Super Grand Slams. From February to July there is a second live aboard yacht in the archipelago to service the two distinct programs of Cayo Largo and Isle of Youth.
Accommodation
Accommodation is on the Jardines Avalon I. This very spacious 110 foot live aboard yacht which has a total of 10 rooms, each equipped with its own private bathroom, toilet, shower, individual climate controls and a safe.
There is an air-conditioned lounge featuring a large screen TV and DVD system. The shaded upper sun deck and cushioned chairs and couches are there for a siesta in the afternoon or for you to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. The yacht is also equipped with a jacuzzi, which is the perfect place to enjoy a mojito after a long day of fishing.
