Our Pick of Luxury Fishing Lodges for Couples

by Roxtons Fishing

For many keen fishers, the dream fishing trip revolves around challenging casts, chasing iconic species and trophy catches. But what if your perfect fishing holiday could also be the perfect getaway for you and your partner?

Today’s luxury fishing destinations offer far more than exceptional fishing. From private island spas and endless white sand beaches to heli-adventures and wildlife excursions, these locations ensure that non-fishing partners enjoy an unforgettable experience of their own. Whether you’re seeking romance, adventure, or pure relaxation, these destinations strike the ideal balance between world-class fishing and indulgent escapes.

We have outlined a few of our favourites below, to enquire about these and any other of our destinations, please contact info@roxtonsfishing.com.

Bahamas – The perfect romantic getaway

The Bahamas are made up of around 3,000 islands, cays and islets, with crystal clear waters, expansive sand beaches and a consistently warm climate.

It is a destination synonymous with some of the best saltwater fishing in the world and has a reputation for producing bonefish of record size. There is a tremendous variety of fly fishing in the Bahamas, both stalking in knee deep flats and poling through deeper waters for bonefish and permit.

For those looking for a romantic getaway, the fishing lodges in the Bahamas can deliver the perfect escape, without compromising on luxury and style. Outdoor activities can include diving, snorkelling, tennis and cycling. Pristine beaches, expansive swimming pools and indulgent spas offer endless opportunities to relax and unwind.

We Recommend:

Kamalame Cay: Private Island offering the ultimate romantic getaway, with spectacular bone fishing and luxury accommodation including a spa.

Tiamo Resort: Idyllic eco resort with spa, ocean activities and top-class bone fishing. Tour neighbouring Cays via Seaplane including the Big Major Cay, home to the famous swimming pigs.

Delphi Club: A favourite amongst bone fishing aficionados, with a wide range of activities for non-fishers. Go on birding tours through the Abaco pine forests, kayak the pristine seascapes or relax by the infinity pool.

Canada – For the adventure lovers

Fishing - North America - Canada - Nimmo Bay

Canada is the land of adventure, with breathtakingly beautiful scenery, spectacular wildlife, UNESCO World Heritage sites and lively cities. It is also a fishers paradise with thousands of lakes, rivers and streams filled with the most sought-after freshwater fishing experiences in the world.

There are not many places where a bright steelhead can be caught one day to be followed by king salmon the next and where huge rainbow trout that smash dry flies are considered to be something to do if the fishing is slow.

Once an option for only the hardiest of travellers, Canada now delivers on all levels, with expert guides, comfortable lodges and endless activities for the non-fishing partner.

We Recommend:

Nimmo Bay: A simply fantastic fishery, with helicopter access to six major classified waters of the British Columbia coast, plus many remote rivers of northern Vancouver Island. Watching killer whales roll before going upstream and putting down on a private beach is not something you can do everywhere. There are plenty of activities outside of the fishing to enjoy from action- packed helicopter adventures and guided wildlife tours to paddling through nearby bays and relaxing in the remote floating saunas.

Clayoquot: Experience wild luxury at this resort & spa, with ocean, forest and mountains right on the doorstep. The freshwater fishing is spectacular and the scenery alone is worth the trip. Clayoquot river systems percolate with winter and spring steelhead and sea-run cutthroat trout. You are spoilt for choice for other activities, with marine excursion tours, hiking, heli-experiences, horse riding and rock climbing to name a few. After a busy day fishing or exploring, you can relax in the dedicated spa or go for a glacial plunge in the pristine Bedwell River.

Seychelles – For those looking for pure relaxation

Fishing - Indian Ocean Islands - The Seychelles - Alphonse Island

Northwest of the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles are an archipelago made up of over 100 coral and granite islands. While the Seychelles is well known as the perfect place for those looking for rest and relaxation, it also has plenty on offer for nature and adventure enthusiasts.

The Seychelles have also become the epicentre of salt-water fly-fishing, with an extraordinary variety of species that can be targeted including bonefish, permit, barracuda and milkfish.

Non-fishing guests can scuba dive round vibrant coral reefs, observe turtles and rays or relax by the pool in the sunshine.

We Recommend:

Alphonse Island: Luxury beach retreat with villas and bungalows with sea views, with a central complex containing a restaurant, bar, kitchen, snooker room, swimming pool and tennis court. The uniqueness that sets Alphonse apart from many other bonefish destinations is the ability to wade over 10,000 acres of hard white sand flats in search of these ghosts. Outside of the fishing, go on a ‘blue safari’ to spot whales, dolphins, manta rays and turtles, enjoy fine dining and hike through mangroves teeming with wildlife.
